Tiago Alves

Conductor and Artistic Direction

Tiago João Gomes Alves was born in Ourém on April 5, 1988. He began his musical studies at the age of 8 at the Academia de Música da Banda de Ourém. In 2001, he joined the Artistic Training Center of the Gualdim Pais Philharmonic Society, where he completed the 7th grade in Clarinet in the class of Professor Bruno Graça. In 2010, he completed his Degree in Music, Clarinet variant, in the field of Interpretation in the class of Professor Étienne Lamaison at the University of Évora. Since 2010, he collaborates with the Lisbon Film Orchestra.

In terms of management, he has already held masterclasses with Steven Davis, João Paulo Fernandes, Félix Hauswirth, Alberto Roque, Timothy Reynish, Reed Thomas, Craig Kirchhoff, Douglas Bostock and José Rafael Pascual Vilaplana.

In 2015, he completed his degree in Wind Orchestra Conducting at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, in the class of Professor Alberto Roque.

In 2017, he completed the Master in Music Teaching in Orchestral Conducting at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa in the class of Professor Jean-Marc Burfin.

As a guest conductor, he conducted the IV Stage of Orchestra de Sopros de Mação in 2012; 1st Stage with the Wind Orchestra of Portalegre in 2013; from the 4th to the 9th Stage of the Wind Orchestra of A-dos-Francos between 2013 and 2019; 2nd Masterclass in Wind Orchestra Conducting and Percussion at the Filarmónica União Ribeirense, in November 2016, in the Azores; Youth Academic Orchestra of Lages do Pico in August 2017; In July 2019, he conducted the 6th Wind Orchestra Internship and 5th Conducting Masterclass at the Alto Alentejo Regional Conservatory, in Reguengos de Monsaraz. He has conducted the Coimbra Sopros Orchestra in two programs. In August 2021, he recorded with the group OpuSpiritum Ensemble the first CD entitled “Le Vent Françai(x)s”.

He directed the Banda da Sociedade de Instrução Musical, Cultura e Recreio de A-dos-Francos from September 2013 to January 2020.

At Ourearte, he had the pleasure, together with his teacher Carla Pais, of having directed the musicals/operettas: “The Masquerade”, “Orféu nos Infernos” by Offenbach, “HMS Pinafore” by Arthur Sullivan, “Kate e a Skate” by the Portuguese composer Jorge Salgueiro and the Merry Widow by Franz Lehar.

He currently teaches Clarinet and Orchestra at Ourearte, String and Wind Orchestra at the Jaime Chavinha Conservatory in Minde, is the musical director of the Camerata de Sopros OpuSpiritum Ensemble, teaches at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria in the Graduate Program in Orchestra Conducting of Sopros and Conductor of the Band of the Philharmonic Society of Gualdim Pais, Tomar.

 



David Nunes

Transverse flute

David Nunes was born in Coimbra in August 1992. At the age of 10, he entered the Escola de Música São Teotónio in Coimbra for the Transverse Flute class of professor Jorge Papel, where he completed the 1st degree, transferring the following year to the Conservatório de Música of Coimbra where he was part of the class of Professor Helena Ruas and Professor Jorge Papel. He holds a Master's Degree in Music Teaching – Instrument and Chamber Music by the Escola Superior de Artes Aplicadas de Castelo Branco (ESART) in the class of Professor Katharine Rawdon, where he also attended the Degree. During his academic career at ESART, he had the opportunity to work with Maestros Maurizio Dini Ciacci, Luís Carvalho, João Paulo Santos, Alberto Roque and Vasco Pearce de Azevedo, Pedro Neves, Rui Massena and Rui Pinheiro.

Attended Transverse Flute Masterclasses guided by teachers William Bennett, Jacques Zoon, Trevor Wye, Thies Roorda, Nuno Inácio, Luís Meireles, Ana Raquel Lima, Gil Magalhães and Katharine Randow and Chamber Music with Geir Draugsvoll.

He integrates the OSC - Orchestra de Sopros de Coimbra, where he also holds management positions, where he was directed by Maestro Adelino Martins, André Granjo, Leandro Alves and Tiago Alves. Integrated in the OSC, he performed concerts throughout the central region of the country and toured Japan in 2008 and Germany in 2010. Pedro Figueiredo and Daniel Tapadinhas, and Orquestra Sinfónica where he worked with Maestros Ernst Schelle, Robert Houlihan and Rodolfo Saglimbeni.

In April 2011, he won the I CAF – Contest for Finalist Students of the Coimbra Conservatory of Music. In February 2011 he won 1st Prize at Folefest – Festival Concurso de Accordion, in Castelo Branco, in the Chamber Music Category, in May 2013 he won 2nd Prize at the 1st Gilberta Paiva National Music Competition, in the Chamber Music Category – Superior Level and in September 2013 he obtained the 2nd Prize in the 38th Concorso Internazionale «Città di Castelfidardo» by Solisti e Complessi di Fisarmonica, in Category “E” Chamber Music, results obtained as a member of the All Libitum Trio.

Together with a group of young musicians from Coimbra, he performed the work “Carnaval dos Animais” by Camille Saint-Säens with narration by actor António Capelo. He is a founding member of the OpuSpiritum Ensemble, with whom he has played all over the country and premiered national and international works. He currently teaches at the Penacova Arts School, where he is also Pedagogical Director and Conductor and Artistic Director of the Boa Vontade Lorvanense Philharmonic.


Marco Albuquerque

Transverse flute

Born on March 1, 1988, he was born in Cativelos (Gouveia, Guarda), where he has always lived. He began his musical studies at the age of 9 at Sociedade Musical Gouveense and in 2005 he joined the Collegium Musicum in Seia.

He participated in several masterclasses, having worked with flutists such as Nuno Ivo Cruz, Jacques Zoon, William Bennett, Vasco Gouveia, Laura Pontecorvo, Erik Drescher, Mathias von Brenndorff, Natália Monteiro, among others.

He worked with several conductors, including Jorge Costa Pinto, Alberto Roque, Vasco Pearce de Azevedo, Paulo Martins, Pedro Neves, Rui Massena, Jean Sébastien Béreau, Eugene Corporon, André Granjo, Helder Abreu, Francisco Sequeira, João Afonso Cerqueira, Pedro Pinto Figueiredo, Osvaldo Ferreira, António Saiote, Rui Pinheiro, Jan Cober, Cláudio Ferreira, Tiago Alves, Pedro Carneiro, Leandro Alves, Jorge Salgueiro and worked with some composers in the field of electroacoustic music, among them Jaime Reis, João Pedro Oliveira , Gerhard Stäbler and Kunsun Shim.

He attended the Music course at the Higher School of Education in Coimbra, failing to complete his degree.

He has been part of the Sociedade Musical Gouveense “Pedro Amaral Botto Machado” since he joined in 1997, and where he currently holds the position of Vice-President of the Board, having already held other management positions. Salome Alves

Oboe

He began his musical studies at the Professional School of Music in Viana do Castelo, in the oboe class of Professor Francesco Sammassimo and later of Professor Paulo Areias.

He had the opportunity to work in a master class with professors such as: Thomas Indermulher, Ricardo Lopes, Jacobo Rodriguez, Eric Speller, Hansjorg Schellenberger.

Collaborated with the Wind and Symphonic Orchestra of the Professional School of Music of Viana do Castelo, with the APROARTE Orchestra, Algarve Wind Orchestra, Algarve Classical Orchestra, ESML Wind and Symphonic Orchestra, Ensemble Contemporaneus, Quinteto da Foco Musical, Gulbenkian Orchestra, Orquestra Clássica do Centro and was part of the soundtrack of the film “O consul de Bordeaux”. It was conducted by several conductors, such as Vasco Pearce de Azevedo, Alberto Roque, Javier Viceiro, Paulo Martins, Julian Lombana, Martin André, Jean Sebastien Bereau, Ernest Schelle, Roberto Pérez, Rui Massena, Paul McCreesh, among others. He participated in the Grillon Festival, France in 2013 and 2014 as a soloist oboe.

He performed solo with the ESML symphony orchestra the concert in C Major by WA Mozart, under the direction of Maestro Vasco Pearce de Azevedo.

He finished his degree with a final classification of 17 out of 20 and a Masters in Music Teaching in the class of Professor Andrew Swinnerton at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa.

He guided the oboes section of the X Internship of the Middle Tejo Wind Orchestra, in Tomar.

She was a professor of oboe and orchestral section at the Professional School of Lagoa, Academia de Música de Lagos, professor of oboe and section at Orquestra Geração in Lisbon, professor of oboe at the Coimbra Conservatory of Music. She is currently an oboe teacher at the Seia Music Conservatory, at the David de Sousa Music Conservatory and at OUREARTE - Escola de Artes de Ourém.

He is a founding member of the chamber music group Opuspiritum Ensemble.



Jorge Cardoso

Oboe

He began his musical training at the Filarmónica União Taveirense. In 1998 he entered the basic oboe course at the Coimbra Conservatory of Music, in the class of Professor Francisco Luís Vieira. He completed the 8th grade of the complementary oboe course at the same conservatory with Professor Francesco Sammassimo. Graduated from the Lisbon Superior School of Music, in oboe in the class of Professor Andrew Swinnerton. He completed the Master in Music Teaching, variant of Oboe and chamber music, at the Superior School of Music in Lisbon. In orchestra, he collaborated with the “TUTTI ENSEMBLE” Orchestra, “MARE NOSTRUM” Orchestra, “ART'QUEST” Orchestra, Youth Orchestra of the Official Conservatories of Music (OJ.COM), National Wind Orchestra of the Templários, Classical Orchestra of the Center, Algarve Wind Orchestra, Coimbra Wind Orchestra, Portuguese Youth Orchestra “Momentum Perpetuum”, Double Reed Ensemble, MUDAra - Companhia de Artes, ESML Wind and Symphonic Orchestra, Feldkirch Music Factory (Austria), Orquestra do Norte, Orchestra “SINFONIETTA DE LISBOA”, was an effective member and section leader of the Youth Symphony Orchestra. He worked with maestros João Paulo Fernandes, Augusto Mesquita, João Ventura, Miguel Henriques, Christopher Bochmann, Rui Massena, António Saiote, Jorge Salgueiro, André Granjo, Joana Carneiro, Alberto Roque, Vasco Azevedo, Pio Saloto, Ernst Schele, Martin André, JS Béreau and among others. He guided the stages of the Regional Orchestra "Lira Açoriana", in 2018 and 2019. He was professor of Oboe at the Academia de Música de Lagos, Conservatório de Musica Joly Braga Santos – Portimão, Conservatório de Musica de Lagoa, at the Academia de Música de Alcobaça, in the Ourearte - Ourém School of Arts and the David de Sousa Music Conservatory. He is currently an oboe professor at the Escola de Artes SAMP – Sociedade Artística e Musical dos Pousos and professor of oboe, chamber music and pedagogical director of the Artistic Training Center of the Sociedade Filarmónica Gualdim Pais, in Tomar. He is a founding member of the OpuSpiritum Ensemble.


Ivo Cura

Clarinet

He began his musical studies at Banda do Cercal. In 2001, he joined the Coimbra Conservatory of Music in the class of Professor Henrique Pereira and in 2009 at the DeCA of the University of Aveiro in the class of Professor Luís Carvalho. He has a degree in music and is attending a master's degree in music teaching at the University of Aveiro. He participated in clarinet masterclasses and festivals with teachers Alan Damien, António Saiote, Michel Arrigon, Nuno Silva, Luís Carvalho, Carlos Alves, among others. He cooperates assiduously with the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras and reinforces the Orquestra do Norte. He worked with conductors Ernst Schelle, Luís Carvalho, Peter Bergamin, Paulo Martins, João Paulo Fernandes, Alberto Roque, André Granjo and Rui Pinheiro. He is a member of the group "Sem Batuta", the wind quintet "Quintvs", the Octeto de Sopros "Hermitos" (with whom he recorded a CD) and the Orquestra de Sopros de Coimbra, where he participated in tours in Japan and Germany.



Ana Nunes

Clarinet

He began his musical studies at the Coimbra Conservatory of Music, having completed the 8th grade in 2014 in the class of Professor Henrique Pereira. He continued his higher studies at the University of Aveiro, in the class of professors Luís Carvalho and Sérgio Neves, having obtained a master's degree in music teaching (clarinet and ensemble music) in 2019.

He participated in masterclasses and technical-musical improvement courses with teachers Alain Damiens, António Saiote, Justo Sanz, Manuel Hernandéz, Cristiano Alves, Luís Carvalho, Étienne Lamaison, Carlos Alves, Vítor Matos, Virgínia Figureiredo, Sérgio Neves and Hélder Tavares. At the orchestral level, he worked with maestros Robert Houlihan, Rodolfo Samglibeni, Ernst Schelle, Eduardo Garcia-Barrios, Jean Sebastien Béreau, Cesário Costa, Luís Carvalho, Alberto Roque, among others.

In 2017, she won the 3rd Prize – Chamber Music at the top level in the “Premio Jovem Músicos” and “Gilberta Paiva National Competition” with the wind quintet “PentaUnio”.

He was a member of the “Tutti Ensemble”, “OJ.COM – Youth Orchestra of the Official Music Conservatories” and “CIAO Orchestra – International Orchestral Art Course”. He is currently a member of the “OpuSpiritum Ensemble” and “Banda União Musical Paramense”.

She teaches clarinet at the Academia de Música de Cantanhede, the Artistic Training Center of the Gualdim Pais Philharmonic Society, the Penacova Arts School, the Boa Vontade Lorvanense Philharmonic School of Music and the União Taveirense Philharmonic School of Music. She is also a teacher in the project “Comunidades Geração” in Castanheira de Pêra. At the same time, he often works on projects related to music in early childhood and music in the community.


Rita Pereira

Bassoon

Rita Miguel Nunes Pereira was born on July 17, 1990 in Coimbra, having started her musical studies at the age of five at ACM – Coimbra with conductor and teacher Virgílio Caseiro.

In 1999, he joined the Music Conservatory of Coimbra in the Bassoon class of Prof. José Pedro Figueiredo which concluded in 2009.

He participated in several musical improvement courses and Bassoon Masterclasses guided by Rui Lopes, Pierre Olivier Martens, José Pedro Figueiredo, Pedro Silva, Hugues Kesteman, Graciela Lopez Varela, Giorgio Mandolesi, Marco Postinghel, Enrique Abargues and also in Improvisation Workshops with Prof. . Etienne Lamaison.

He participated in several internships with the Youth Symphony Orchestra of the Official Conservatories of Music (OJ.COM) as well as in the Momentum Perpetuum symphony orchestra.

He actively collaborates with various amateur and professional musical groups, including the Filarmónica União Taveirense, the Academic Orchestra of the University of Coimbra (where he coordinates the woodwind section), the Coimbra Sopros Orchestra (where he serves as Vice President of Direction), Tutti Ensemble Classical Orchestra, Filarmonia das Beiras Orchestra, Classical Orchestra of the Center, Classical Orchestra of Espinho and ESART Symphony Orchestra.

During his musical career, he had the opportunity to work with several conductors such as Martin André, João Paulo Fernandes, César Nogueira, Augusto Mesquita, Nicholas Kok, Robert Houlihan, Rui Massena, Rodolfo Saglimbeni, Eugene Migliaro Corporon, António Vassalo Lourenço, Luis Carvalho , Luis Cardoso, André Granjo, Nuno Coelho, Ernest Schelle, Sérgio Alapont, Alberto Roque, Carlos Marques among others.

He is a founding member of the Quintvs Quintet (Coimbra), of the wind group Hermitos (Aveiro), of which he has released a CD with the same name (2010) and of the Opuspiritum Ensemble (Coimbra).

He was ranked third ex-equo in the International Wind Instruments Competition “Terras La Salette” 2013, not having been awarded first place.

She teaches bassoon and ensemble classes at the São Teotónio Music School (Coimbra), at the David de Sousa Music Conservatory (Figueira da Foz), at the Paços de Brandão Music Academy, at the 12 de Abril Philharmonic (Águeda) and at the Union Taveirense Philharmonic (Taveiro-Coimbra). In the latter association, in addition to being an instrument teacher, she performs pedagogical management functions at the School of Music and directs its Youth Band.

He holds a Master's Degree in Music Teaching from the University of Aveiro – Variant Bassoon in the class of prof. Peter Silva.


Diana Dias

Bassoon

Diana Dias, born in Pombal, began her musical studies on the clarinet at the Philharmonic Artistic Pombalense. He studied at the Coimbra Conservatory of Music, in the bassoon class of Professor José Pedro Figueiredo, and later, at EPABI with Professor Cidália Torres.

Degree in Biology from the University of Coimbra.

Graduated in Bassoon by ESART - IPCB, in the class of Professor Carolino Carreira, and Master in Music Teaching – Bassoon and Ensemble Music, by the same school.

As a bassoonist, he collaborated with numerous orchestras, namely the Orquestra Sinfónica da ESART, Orquestra Barroca da ESART, Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, Orquestra Clássica do Centro, Orquestra Olissipus on tour in Angola with the artist Tito Paris, Orquestra Deutsch-Französisches Forum Junger Kunst in Bayreuth, the Orchestra of the Festival “Rota das Artes” with the interpretation of the Opera “Il Mondo de La Luna” by Haydn, the Orquestra Sinfónica de Leiria, the Orquestra Marquês de Pombal and the Orquestra Sinfónica de Gouveia.

He is a performing member of the OpuSpiritum Ensemble, dedicated to the interpretation of chamber music works for ensembles, and of the Ensemble DME - Collegium Musicum Electroacústico, with the interpretation of contemporary music works.

Attended Masterclasses and Workshops with bassoonists such as: Pierre Olivier Martens, Liliana Reis, Marc Trénel, Rui Lopes, Arlindo Santos, Joaquim Moita, Robert Glassburner, Giorgio Mandolesi, Ricardo Santos and Sophie Dartigalongue.

He worked with conductors such as: Martin Andre, Marc Tardue, Pedro Carneiro, Pedro Neves, Jan Dobrzelevsky, Julia Jones, João Paulo Santos, Maurizio Dini Ciacci, Luís Carvalho, Alberto Roque, Vasco Pierce de Azevedo, Rui Massena, Cesário Costa, António Saiote , Francisco Ferreira, Jean-Sébastien Béreau, Paulo Martins, Reinaldo Guerreiro, Mark Heron, Carlos Silva, Nicolaus Richter, Jean-Bernard Pommier, Yibin Seow, Pedro Pinto Figueiredo, Rafael Albors, and Helder Abreu.

In her academic and professional career, she attended numerous internships with wind orchestras and symphony orchestras, as well as workshops and training related to music and education, including music for babies.

It is a founding member and member of the board of the Ideias Ousadas association, based in Pombal, which aims to promote culture with the integration and support of all types of art, by local artists.

She teaches bassoon and ensemble classes at the Conservatório de Música de Seia – Collegium Musicum and at the Professional School of Serra da Estrela.



Joel Cura

French horn

Born in 1990, he joined the Banda do Cercal Music School in 1999. In 2002 he joined the Coimbra Conservatory of Music in the Horn class of Prof. Ivan Kucera and then continued his studies at the University of Aveiro in the Horn Class of Prof. Bernardo Silva concluding in this institution the Degree in Music – Instrumental Area.

Attended masterclasses with the following horn players: Radovan Vlatkovic, Marie Luise Neunecker, Soren Hermannson, Javier Bonet, Jonathan Luxton, José Bernardo Silva, Hélder Vales, Portuguese Horn Quartet, among others.

In the orchestral context, he worked with the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, Orquestra Clássica do Centro, Orquestra Clássica da Maia and Orquestra Tutti Ensemble.

He worked with several maestros, including Ernst Schelle, Luís Carvalho, Alberto Roque, André Granjo, João Paulo Fernandes, José Pedro Figueiredo, Carlos Marques, Carlos Amarelinho, among others.

Founding member of the Octeto de Sopros Hermitos with which he recorded a CD (2011) entitled Hermitos with works by L. van Beethoven and Josef Myslivicek.

Founding Member of Quinteto de Sopros Quitvos Quintet Founding Member of Grupo Sem Batuta.

He is currently a member of the chamber music group OpuSpiritum Ensemble.


Nuno Caetano

French Horn

He began his musical studies at the age of 15 at Academia de Música Banda de Ourém. He began his musical studies at the age of 16 at Ourearte in the French horn class guided by Professor Martha Oliveira, where he completed the 4th degree in the class of Professor Rodrigo Carreira.

He has a degree in French horn from the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa in the class of professor Jonathan Luxton.

In 2021, he completed his Master's Degree in Music Teaching at the Superior School of Music and Performing Arts in the class of Professor Bohdan Sebestik. Andrew Antcliff, Abel Pereira, Bernardo Silva, Jonhatan Williams, Jeff Nelson, American Horn Quartet, Trompas Lusas, among others.

He has worked with several conductors including: Otavio Mas Arocas, Jouke Hoekstra, Jonhatan Grethen, Erik Janssen, Jean Sébastien Béreau, Jean-Marc Burfin, Pedro Neves, Armando Saldarini, Alberto Roque, Martin André, Christopher Bochmann.

Collaborated with the National Opera Company, Orquestra Artquest, Metropolitan Academic Orchestra, ESML Symphony and Wind Orchestra, Academic Orchestra of the University of LisbonHe was a member and section leader of the Youth Symphony Orchestra from 2008 to 2011.He was a founding member of the quintet metal band 5@play and the BellsBrass Ensemble. He is a member and founder of the Opuspiritum Ensemble. He taught at the Escola de Artes do Norte Alentejo from 2017 to 2019. , Secondary School Dr. Manuel Fernandes, Artistic Training Center of the Gualdim Pais Philharmonic Society.
